Get Curious and Get Creative: Disability and Non-Monogamy

Disabled people’s experiences and relationship needs are often left out of conversations about intimacy, sex, and relationships. This presentation explores what happens when the emotional and sexual needs of disabled people aren’t considered and how nonmonogamy can sometimes create more flexibility and choice in meeting those needs. Together, we’ll explore how ableism can show up in relationships and nonmonogamous communities, identify common barriers to intimacy and connection, and practice looking at these experiences in new ways through discussion and real-world examples. The hope is that you will leave with a better understanding of disability and sexuality, practical tools for creating more accessible and inclusive relationships, and new ways to support the sexual and emotional needs of disabled partners and community members.

About Our Instructors:

Jasmin (they/them, MA, MFTC) is an activist, therapist, and educator in Colorado. They specialize in ethical nonmonogamy, neurodivergence, disability/chronic pain, and trans/nonbinary identities.
Jasmin values radical deconstruction in both the therapeutic space and their everyday advocacy. They emphasize the importance of collaboration and authentic connections. They are an active member of their local community gardens, sustainability organizations, and crafting spaces. Outside of the therapy room, they can be found reading, dancing, camping, and eating delicious food with their cat, Buddy.

Samantha (she/her) is a therapist, educator, and advocate specializing in relationships, disability, and intimacy (MA, LPCC, MFTC). Passionate about inclusivity, Samantha helps individuals and couples navigate challenges related to disability, chronic illness, and neurodivergence. She values radical authenticity and encourages others to embrace every aspect of themselves. She also provides workshops, presentations, and social media education to break down stigma and promote empowerment in oneself and relationships. In her free time, she can usually be found devouring a new book, baking, or tackling a new hobby.
