Authority, Surrender, and Trust: Understanding Power Exchange

Before we offer or receive impact, restraint, or sensation, there are deeper powers at work: the ability to perceive, to feel, to desire, to express, and to attune. These are the forces that create anticipation, connection, trust, tension, and chemistry. They can transform an interaction from something we do into something we deeply experience.

While kink can be fulfilling without power exchange, many people are drawn to the unique charge that emerges when power itself becomes part of the play. What makes someone captivating to follow? What makes surrender feel delicious? How do we create the conditions for influence, responsiveness, trust, and authentic connection?

In this playful and experiential workshop, we’ll step out of theory and into practice. Through guided exercises and partner explorations, we’ll investigate how power moves between people, what creates depth and connection, and how we can become more intentional participants in that dance. Rather than focusing on techniques or implements, we’ll focus on the relational and embodied skills that make power exchange feel alive, compelling, and real.

Whether you’re curious about dominance and submission, interested in bringing more intentional power exchange into your kink practice, or simply fascinated by the dynamics of influence, connection, and surrender, you’ll leave with new insights, practices, and a deeper appreciation for the art of power.

No prior experience required. No rope, impact, or BDSM techniques will be taught. This workshop focuses on the foundations that make meaningful power exchange possible.

About Our Instructor:

Beth Mongold (she/her) After my divorce, I went on a quest to explore love and intimacy. Despite years of experience in energy healing, meditation, tantra, and yoga, I hadn’t fully examined my sexuality or what makes relationships work.

I realized I didn’t understand my desires or what relationship structures work best for me – only that I craved more fun, depth, and wildness. Training with SomaticaⓇ and other transformative programs helped me uncover my turn-ons and hang-ups, desires and demons—and embrace deeper dimensions of my erotic nature.

Now, I help individuals and couples do the same. I offer a safe, playful space to explore desires, fantasies, emotions, and beliefs, with a focus on empathy, non-judgment, and respect. Through talk-based coaching and experiential practices, we’ll release repressed parts of your erotic identity and open new possibilities.
