Consent culture is more than asking before touching, stating hard limits, or doing a verbal check-in. And, sometimes, it almost becomes performative: something people say rather than something they feel in their bodies. We will examine the difference between performing consent (doing what looks good, safe, or expected) and living consent (responding from authentic desire, capacity, and internal congruence). Throughout the evening, we will explore cultural pressures, trauma responses, event dynamics, and social hierarchies that distort consent.
There will be a lot of space for conversation, sharing your experiences, and discussing tools we can all use to be real with how we approach consent conversations.
Our goal is to continue to build a community where people feel safe saying no, renegotiating, pausing, and seeking clarity.
