Description:

Do you like torsion? Waist rope? Tying on bamboo? Are you feeling stuck or having a hard time finding inspiration or new shapes to try in suspension? Join us in this bootyful sequence with a few shapes that are built with minimal rope with a focus on aesthetics, connection, and beauty. 

We will go over the basics of tying a booty basket, along with different approaches to tying them and options to adapt based on a bottoms needs. After this exercise, the sequence will be demonstrated and we will share our thoughts on adjustments and accents to create more or less intensity for our partner, as well as directions the suspension can be taken. This suspension is more focused on connection, presence, and the slow burn of rope more than a face paced, dynamic suspension. 

The goal is to slow down and create a collaborative experience together to get deep into our rope space.

This single day intensive aims to bring a different perspective on rope suspension into our community with inspiration from Semenawa intensives that Oso took last year with Tamandua. 

Required Pre-requisites & Equipment:

• For Tops: Experience and confidence with a back loading chest harness whether thats a TK, arms front, or arms free harness. Experience tying and suspending on bamboo. Upline management as well as how to identify and handle emergencies in rope. Ability to tie a basket is preferred but this will be covered in class. 

• For both: skilled negotiation and vetting of partners, specific communication and problem-solving skills.

• For bottoms: Experience and confidence being in harnesses/suspended, stress & pain management skills, especially with waist rope and torsion.

• Full rope kit (8-12 hanks), 3-4 uplines, hardware for on the body if desirable, safety sheers. 

About our instructors:

Oso
(He/Him)
Oso has been a part of the Denver rope community since early 2022. Originally intrigued by the shapes he saw, Oso fell in love with the intimacy, challenge, risk, and connection associated with rope. Oso loves challenging ties with single point hangs, waist rope, and twisty torsions. Through rope and self expression, Oso believes that everyone has the opportunity to create something beautiful and help cultivate community growth.

Inara
(She/Her) 

Though she has always been attracted to the aesthetics of rope, Inara started bottoming for for rope in the summer of 2023 and has loved exploring the art of Shibari ever since. Inara especially loves to be challenged with creative ties. Outside of Shibari, you will find Inara dancing at shows, enjoying Colorado nature, and playing board games or video games.
