Every second Tuesday of the month we will be treated to sex and kink education on a wide range of topics. Stay tuned for more sexy topics coming your way!

PLEASURE SEEKERS:

WHY DO WE KINK?

Why is kink something that many of us are drawn to?

Theories range from a trauma response to early experiences to genetics but research shows us that people engage in kink for all sorts of reasons! Come hear a panel of kinksters thoughtfully discuss why they kink and what kink does for them. As a bonus, several of the panelists will also share science-based and evidenced-based perspectives on pain processing, physiology, psychology, trauma, and why it hurts so damn good. And feel free to bring your own questions in case there’s time!

Panel Participants:

ROM (he/him they/them) is a switch and has been practicing kink for 8 years. He is also a physical therapist, and his clinical background includes neurology, physiology, biomechanics, and anatomy. His job includes a tremendous amount of soft domming. FetLife: @ R_O_M

Summation (she/her) is a switch and has been practicing kink since 2015. She is also a post-doctoral published and cited pain scientist and neurophysiologist. Her research experience includes studying central nervous damage and injury, as well as public health.

Tattooed_N_Nerdy (she/her) is a total sex nerd, both personally and professionally. As an educator and sex therapist, she provides knowledge about kink, sexuality, consensual nonmonogamy, intimacy, desire, and navigating trauma recovery. From the classroom to the therapy room to the conference room to the play space, she is an intersectional and sex-positive provocateur hoping to instigate thoughtful dialogue and dispel shame related to all things kinky and sexy. TiedRed (she/her) is a vivacious and enthusiastic bottom who is deeply passionate about building a community that facilitates quality human connections. In 2014, she dove headfirst into her local public BDSM community and has since spent much of her free time trying to be the supportive kinkster she would have leaned on when she first entered the scene. To further this resolve, she founded the popular group Denver Ms. Kinky Scouts (yes, there were kinky patches and ball-gag cookies) in 2016 and proudly earned the title of Ms. Leather Colorado 2018. She thrives in mentally challenging bondage and playing in the taboo realm of CNC. Her educational passion lies in promoting real-world bottoming skills. Today, she is investing her time in mental peace, enjoying days in the sun, eliciting laughter, and pushing her limits in diverse ways.

JohnHawk (He/Him) (formerly JohnIsSirReal) entered the Denver kink community in 2011, and completed a year long mentorship under MysZoe. Over the last 13 years of learning about BDSM, leather, and alternative lifestyle communities, he always looks forward to sharing some of the knowledge he has picked up.

John is an ethically non-monogamous relationship anarchist, and believes that interpersonal dynamics should be based on each individual’s needs & boundaries. He enjoys power exchange within scenes, and can use a wide variety of toys- but his favorite tools are his hands, body, and devious mind.
John volunteers by giving BDSM tastings, being a dungeon monitor at the Denver Sanctuary, and has helped events at Studio Friction, Talk Sexy, and other gatherings. Fetlife: @JohnHawk
