Join Kazami Ranki at Studio Friction for a 5 hour workshop on harnesses patterns and their use in suspension transitions. These patterns are known for being robust and solid ties that excel at safety and comfort. This class is an intermediate to advanced class that will work with transitions in suspension.

In this class we will cover:

• Hishi Tie: Explore the intricacies of the Hishi chest tie, a versatile and visually striking diamond pattern tie that is sustainable for many, and can be utilized for demanding suspension purposes. Kazami will demonstrate the pattern and techniques that will enable you to incorporate this beautiful tie into your own repertoire.
• Above the Knee Mermaid Tie: Kazami Ranki will guide you through the process of tying an exquisite above the knee mermaid tie, another tie that is solid for demanding transition sequences
• Face down to face up transition sequence (see photos) using these ties.

There will be a 1 hour lunch break during this class

All students will be expected to have suspension experience and riggers expected to have solid experience in basic up-line management. Participants should be able to tie a suspension worthy chest and hip harness. As always, everyone is welcome to participate up to their own comfort level or just observe the class.

Riggers will need a full (8-15) rope kit, rigging plate/ring and a few carabiners.

Kazami Ranki – He/Him

Kazami Ranki resides in Osaka Japan where he is the organizer of many SM events in Tokyo and Osaka. Known as the “Atrocious Nawashi”, Kazami Ranki has been tying for over 26 years. His style (Kazami-Ryu) is known internationally for it’s focus on his partners comfort, the strength of the ties, the unique patterns he has created, and his unmatched ability to accentuate the beauty and essence in those he ties.
