Description:

Diamond patterns (Hishi) are a common element of Shibari harnesses. These patterns create a visually striking sense of symmetry and precision. Diamond patterns can be used to create harnesses which load evenly across a large part of the body and easily customized.

This class will cover two Shukabishi style Hishi harnesses, a chest harness, and a matching leg ladder. We will also discuss how to extend and modify the diamond patterns to customize these harnesses. For those with suspension experience, we will also cover where to load these harnesses.

Required Pre-requisites & Equipment:

This is a beginner level class and is open to those who have some basic tying experience. Participants should be able to tie a single column of their choice, as well as have familiarity with basic frictions used in Shibari (Half-Hitch, Munter-Hitch, and L-friction).

This class will not cover upline management skills, though we will cover locations to attach uplines for those with suspension experience.

Attendees should bring 3+ full lengths of rope, as well as a half-length if they have it and safety gear (such as shears or other cutting tool).

(she/her)

Kathryn has been a member of the Denver rope community since 2021. Initially captivated by Shibari’s blend of beauty and pain, she has fallen in love with the technical depth and artistry rope offers. She began her journey as a bottom, with a fondness for Futomomo inversions. In 2022, Kathryn decided to delve deeper into Shibari by learning to tie. Since then, she has dedicated herself to honing her skills as a rigger through meticulous attention to detail. Kathryn has a love for flowy, sensual, sweet ties with a dash of meanness sprinkled on top for spice.

Max/Oso
(he/him)

Max was introduced to the Denver rope scene in April of 2022 and has been an active member ever since. Originally intrigued by the restraint and intimacy of Shibari, he grew to love the compression, friction, risk, challenge, and self expression that comes with rope and rope suspensions. He has a love for very challenging suspensions with dynamic transitions, torsion, and lots of other nice things sprinkled in. Max loves to smile and share in the community experience that is rope and Studio Friction.
