Beginner to Intermediate skill level - accessible for floor rope, partials, and suspension 

Class Description:

New ways of exploring rope through fun, ridiculous, risk-aware games and improvisational scenes that will stretch your creativity and expand your ideas about what rope bondage can be! Rope play doesn’t need to be pattern-specific and can incorporate what you already know to inspire novel ties, scenes, and connection. Whether you feel stuck and need a fresh perspective, or you just want to have a freakin’ good time, this is the class for you! Air and Foxy will do a demo in which registrants will help create a one-of-a-kind rope scene! Participants will then have the opportunity to create their own outrageous, unplanned scenes within given improv-type structures. Think improv night at the comedy show…you know…but kinky…and ropey!

Accessible to everyone:

All body sizes and shapes are welcome and all identities are welcome! We welcome all ages (above age 19), sexual identities, gender identities/expressions, races, religions, abilities, disabilities, and national origin. The instructors would like to personally invite and welcome community members who are subject to systemic marginalization. Harassment and discrimination will not be tolerated. 

Pre-requisite skills - 

Must know and be adept at tying a single column at minimum (for floor rope participation) 

Chest harness and lower body harness for partials and suspension level participation, upline line management, and some suspension experience required

What to Bring: 

At least 6 hanks of 7-8 meter ropes, safety shears, one bizarre prop, snacks and water, and a sense of humor and out of the cube thinking!

Instructors:

Air – 'Perceived Pronouns' or She/They

Air joined the public kink scene in 2016, with a primary focus in Japanese style rope bondage. Over the years, Air has worked with a multitude of highly skilled rope/bdsm practitioners, and soaked in their knowledge like a dirty lil sponge.

As an avid self-tier, rigger, and rope bottom, Air has presented at both national and international level events. Air’s tying style can be described as calculating, attentive, creative, and hilariously sadistic.

Their greatest joy is recognizing untapped potential of their students and fostering an inclusive environment. In Air’s classes you will learn new skills, get inspired to think outside the box, gain confidence, and enjoy a fuck-ton of laughter. Air’s enthusiasm and genuine delight for the experience shows in everything they instruct.

GoodFoxy – She/They

GoodFoxy has been in love with shibari for close to three years. She was thankfully introduced to it as a bottom by a friend and tied and learned with that friend for some time before stepping into the rope community via Studio Friction. After taking curriculum classes with the intention of bottoming, GoodFoxy soon found a desire to learn to tie quickly becoming clear. And thus began her journey to learn to tie, to find herself as both a bottom and a top, and to joyfully fall deeper in love with shibari.

GoodFoxy values human connection and complexity, relationship, equity, education, aesthetics, sensory experience, challenge, novelty, and passion (to start ). They identify as a cis, queer/bi, poly, kinky, femme, rope switch who is also a single mom, burlesque dancer, fitness instructor, and psychologist.

• Please arrive on time or a bit early so that we can get started promptly.
• Studio friction membership is required to attend to enable us to maintain our 501(c)7 non-profit status (per the IRS we can only earn 30% of our income from non-members). • Masks are not required with proof of vaccination as long as Denver community level remains medium to low. However, if the COVID community level goes back to high, all individuals will be required to wear a mask - per the CDC recommendations. Masks are always required for unvaccinated individuals.
