Studio Friction's Rope Bondage Series

Beginner course 1

You are brand new to rope, but you know you are interested, maybe even excited? Well, you found the right place to start.

When: Thursdays 7-9 PM February 10, 17, 24, March 3

Description:

This series is meant to give you the basics to step into using rope bondage at home safely, as well as be able to learn other floor-based topics in outside classes.

By the end of the Beginner 1 series, students will be able to:

  1. Identify the benefits and drawbacks to various types of rope
  2. Perform at least three different types of rope safety checks in appropriate situations
  3. Confidently negotiate with new and existing partners
  4. Seek and respect consent for sexual and non-sexual play activities
  5. Tie a Somerville Bowline single column tie that will not collapse
  6. Tie a reverse tension chest harness with appropriate tension
  7. Tie a double-column that won’t collapse
  8. Tie a bunny ears armbinder 
  9. Gain an initial understanding of shoulder mobility 
  10. Tie a spiral futomomo
  11. Understand the purpose and function of frictions
  12. Gain an initial understanding of a 2-rope TK

Equipment:

2 to 4 - 30' lengths of rope

About our instructors:

Avid (they/them)

Avid ties others, ties themself, and gets tied by others. They've been learning rope since 2015 and have been involved in the public community since 2018. A passionate educator by trade, Avid is excited to facilitate experiences and education for folx who are newer to the wide world of rope.

Avalanche (she/her)

Avalanche has been involved in the Denver kink scene since 2018. She is a strong advocate for lowering barriers to entering the kink scene for others. Her background in engineering and her experience working in advocacy non-profits gives her teaching style a mixture of thorough analysis and relatable communication.

Important Registration Information:

  • All attendees must register and pay online, no admittance or registration at the door.
  • Photo ID is required to be admitted and must match the name listed in your online registration. You must be 19 years of age or older to attend Studio Friction events.
  • No refunds or credits on cancellations within 24 hours of the first class (contact us for extenuating circumstances).
  • It is the responsibility of the attendees to be on time for the class. If you realize you will be late, please get in touch with the instructor as soon as possible.
  • If you will miss a class, it is your responsibility to contact your instructor about making up the missed class. Make-up classes are offered at the instructors' discretion.

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS:

    • All attendees must sign a COVID waiver as part of online registration and submit to a symptom check including a no touch temperature check.
    • Masks required for all attendees at Studio Friction, regardless of vaccination status.
    • All attendees must provide either: 
    • Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, or 
    • Results of negative COVID-19 PCR test within 48 hours of the event you are attending (this means a weekly test for curriculum courses)
    • Hand sanitizer and surface sanitizer will be available throughout the studio.
