The thighs are a major muscle group that are often incorporated into ties due to their inherent strength. From futos to mermaids to cuffs, thigh ties are popular for ground work to suspension and everything in between. In this class, we will go over two thigh binders for folks to explore at their own level.
These ties build solid construction around a strong muscle group in the leg, which can feel more sustainable in comparison to the widely-used futomomo. By avoiding passing tightly-tensioned rope over the front of bone, this is a much more accessible tie for those who have sensitive shins or hot spots. From an aesthetic perspective, there is more hip opening available and possibilities to either extend the leg or tie the foot back to achieve that traditional futo look without the shin pressure.
This class is accessible to people at all skill levels. We invite everyone to try out the ties on the ground, and will talk about attachment points and options for going into the air for those comfortable with suspension.
Pre-requisites:
Single column tie, and basic knowledge of tension and frictions will be helpful.
What to bring: 2-3 lengths of rope (more plus rigging hardware if you are planning to suspend)

About the Instructors:
Matt/Shosty9 (he/him)
Matt has been a part of the Denver rope community since 2018. Having an engineering mind he cares less about the how of rope and more about the why. Breaking patterns down into their core components and understanding their interaction has guided his understanding. This also informs how he teaches, ensuring students gain a functional understanding rather than copying by rote. In addition to interests in rope and rope education, Matt's interests include primal play, knives, and breath play.
athena/ghost_sonata (she/her)
Since discovering kink eight years ago, athena has rounded out her vanilla life by exploring power exchange, giggly masochism, and plenty of time in rope. A highly sensitive rope slut with an insatiable appetite for novelty, she enjoys discovering the many different modalities rope has to offer with trusted partners.
A consent enthusiast, relational junkie, and liberal feminist killjoy, athena has shared her passion with others by teaching about rope, power dynamics, sexuality, feminism, kink, and personal growth in cities across the United States.
