Patterns, schmatterns…let’s talk about the reasoning behind different transition choices, and build your ability to create unique sequences! This class is intended for folks who are starting to work through transitions in self-suspension. To begin, Shay will bring the class along on the process to collaboratively create a demonstration transition sequence, discussing the “decision points” and pros and cons of different selections. Participants will then self-tie a suspension-worthy chest and leg ladder or hip harness—Shay will quickly guide attendees through tying a triskelion chest harness and leg ladder, or you can tie your personal favorites. Within an outline, participants will choose their own adventures, utilizing these harnesses for partial and full self-suspension sequences.

Details:

• Class from 1 - 4:30pm, doors open at 12:30pm

• Class size is limited to ensure everyone has "air time" and personalized instruction. There will be a hard point for each attendee. Each attendee may bring one non-tying "spotter" if they would like, but this is not required. 

•  Supplies: A basic self-suspension kit.

• Pre-requisites: The ability to independently self-tie a suspension-worthy chest harness, hip harness, and secure hanger and upline configuration (note: this content will be covered in Tying & Flying: Beginning self-suspension on Saturday). Knowledge of self-suspension safety basics. Body & risk awareness to participate at a level that is safe(r) for you.

About the Presenter:

Shay Tiziano (she/her or they/them) is a dynamic bondage performer and renowned self-suspender known for their unique, dynamic performances and fun, attainable, and risk-awareness focused approach to kink education. She is the author of Tying & Flying, the first-ever book about self-suspension, and Creating Captivating Classes, a guide for kink and sexuality educators. Based in San Francisco, Shay has over a decade of experience presenting across the US and internationally. She has produced events and performance showcases including BENT, the Bay Area’s biggest dungeon party, the Seattle Erotic Art Festival bondage & aerial stage, Self-Suspension Open Space, the Folsom Street Fair bondage stage, and acclaimed bondage and fetish performance event Twisted Windows.

**IMPORTANT** If you would like to bring a non-tying spotter, this person must also register for the event. You will receive a registration code for them to use in your ticket purchase confirmation email, which will allow them to register for no charge.

*If you need to purchase rope, Studio Friction has POSH and treated jute rope in stock. We also have safety shears available.

Important Registration Information:

• All attendees must register and pay online, no admittance or registration at the door.

• Photo ID is required to be admitted. Name on ID must match the name on your registration. You must be 19 years of age or older to attend.

• No refunds or credits on cancellations within 24 hours of event (contact us for extenuating circumstances). 

 COVID Restrictions:

• All attendees must sign a covid waiver and agree to symptom and no touch temperature checks

• Masks are required for all attendees at Studio Friction, regardless of vaccination status.

• All attendees must provide either: 

• Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (including boosters as recommended by the CDC) or 
  

• Results of negative COVID-19 PCR test within 48 hours of the event you are attending

• Hand and surface sanitizer will be available throughout the studio
