Class Description:

In this class we’ll cover a front loading 3rd rope for the TK, but any chest harness that can be front loaded can be used for the sequence. From there it gets intense really fast. I personally have done this sequence with a TK, Leafless Rose and an arms free hishi. If you do an arms in front, it needs to be sustainable in a back loaded position as well.

We’ll be putting the bottoms into single point hangs on more than one occasion. Sometimes just from the chest harness, sometimes just from a hip harness. They’ll be in front loaded, back loaded, and inverted positions. Your harnesses need to be solid, and will be checked.

You should already have suspension and transition experience before taking this class. Many of the positions in this sequence are challenging on the bottom, and will require their rigger to be able to move efficiently and smoothly. If you have not done any suspension transition work yet, please sign up to audit the course. Tying pairs who cannot safely navigate the sequence for any reason will be asked to observe.

Prerequisites and Equipment:

-Suspension experience (both tops AND bottoms INCLUDING TRANSITIONS)

-Suspension gear (e.g. ring, rigging plate, carabiners, etc.)

-Cutting tool

-3 to 4 synthetic load lines are recommended.

-Carabiners or rings to use at the harness are recommended

About the Instructors:

TheDude (he/him)

TheDude has been tying for well over a decade at this point. He’s learned from rope educators across the globe, and is always looking for people to learn from. In the last couple years he’s been helping organize Studio Friction events, and education. He can often be found at parties and labs playing and having fun.

BetwixtBlushes (she/her)

BetwixtBlushes is a bottom-centric rope switch often found giggling in thigh high socks and volunteering for Studio Friction. She is an enthusiast for discussion groups, bottoms speaking up (especially in classes), and always has an interest in learning more.
