Rope Intensive : Suspension Tune Up

with TheDude and BetwixtBlushes

About the class:

After months of covid I know that a ton of us are rusty as hell. This is an opportunity to knock of the rust, and get tuned back up. I am going to put @BetwixtBlushes up in various positions and you will repeat the position. Feel free to use whatever harnesses you like. After each position we'll come down, evaluate tension and placements, re-tie as needed and continue on to the next position. 

People are encourage to use patterns you aren't super comfortable with here as well. Just be prepared, no matter which harness you choose, to recieve some feedback on it! Thats the whole goal of this workshop.

Prerequisites:

This is not meant to be an intro to suspension workshop. You should already have some confidence in your harnesses, as well as expereince using them in suspension. Bottoms should have awareness of suspension safety and ideally at least some experience in the air.

Equipment:

Every tying pair will need about 10-12 lengths of rope in good condition (however many you need for suspension, plus a couple more), suspension point hardware (carabiners, rigging plate, or ring), and a cutting implement. At least one extra carabiner is strongly recommended. A floor mat as the studio is not able to provide those at this time. An aftercare blanket and/or pillow is optional but nice to have.

About our instructors:

@TheDude (He/Him) was  has been tying for... a long time. Thanks to the opportunities provided by Denver Rope Bite and Studio Friction's efforts, he has had some amazing opportunities to learn from presenters around the globe. Pre-Covid he could often be found at parties and events having fun scenes, teaching and occasionally performing. These days he is focusing on play at home but still trying to build community through smaller, more focused, educational opportunities. 

@BetwixtBlushes (She/Her) is another Denver scene regular. She was mostly excited by the prospect to get in the air multiple times...just to shake off the rust. But really, she is looking forward to discussing communication, processing, and other skills with everyone.

IMPORTANT, for our friends safety and health:

• All attendees must register and pay online to reduce exposure for our volunteers at the door

• All attendees must sign a covid waiver and submit to a symptom check including a no touch temperature check

• All attendees must wear masks in the studio at all times per the Colorado state mandate

• Please bring your own mat and rope, mats and rope will not be available from the studio

• The studio will be disinfected after each event, and commonly touched surfaces will be cleaned during the event

• Hand sanitizer and surface sanitizer will be available thru out the studio
