Switchtext will be doing a workshop where you will learn how to treat your natural fiber rope to make it soft, smooth and ready for skin contact. We will review running or polishing rope, burning off loose fiber, wax/oil application, and possibly baking.

Come out and spend the day getting your rope in shape for tying with your rope community.

Bring:

  • Rough, raw rope ready to treat (fresh my nawashi rope will be available for sale at $6/hank)
  • Your favorite oils / waxes (some will be available for your use)
  • Camp stove with fuel if you have one, as this will allow more people to get their rope burned off
  • A carabiner or two
  • Work gloves if you have them
  • Clothes that you don’t mind having lots of rope fiber on.

Switchtext (He/Him) is a designer with an intense interest in craft. He co-founded and is the creative director for Studio Friction. He is more interested in sensations and understanding the elements of rope bondage than mastering someone’s pattern. He’s been tying for 10 years, and has learned a lot but he knows he has lots to learn.
